Your initial examination and consultation appointment is approximately 60-90 minutes. We will be taking digital photographs and x-rays. We are excited that our office uses the latest development in x-ray technology: digital x-rays. The digital x-ray radiation is kept to an absolute minimum so that you actually get less than 1/2 the radiation of old-fashioned film x-rays. In addition to being immediately available, there is no more waiting for films to be processed.

Your treatment coordinator will perform the preliminary diagnostic exam to determine the nature of your orthodontic needs. The digital photos that we will be taking allow you to see exactly what the doctor sees. It’s incredibly enlightening to be able to see your teeth the way that we see them. We feel that this enables you to understand the reasons for any recommended treatment.

Dr. Shaw Dr. Jane or Dr. Ginzler will meet with you to go over your x-rays, photos and exam findings to discuss the treatment recommendations. The timing of when treatment should begin, and the anticipated length of treatment will also be discussed. We will fully inform you if treatment is recommended. We’ll also cover whether treatment alternatives are available. Your treatment coordinator will review payment options, schedule your appointments and answer any questions you may have.
