About the Doctors

Randall L. Shaw, DDS, MS

Our office uses the latest proven technology available. We take extensive continuing education courses to stay updated. We work really hard to make sure you and your family receive the best treatment possible. I think you’ll be excited to see what we can do for you.

Dr. Randall ShawI received my dental degree from the University of Michigan and my Master of Science in Orthodontics from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. I am currently on the clinical Faculty for SureSmile, providing the training for other Orthodontists around the country.

SureSmile brings the 3-D world to Orthodontics. We are able to harness the power of CAD technology to create a virtual computerized model of your teeth. The movements we make on the computer are used to program space-age wires to move your teeth into their calculated position.

I am one of the few orthodontists in the country who has the training and experience to be thoroughly qualified in the use of lingual braces. These braces are placed on the backs of the teeth, so that they are completely invisible. This combines with SureSmile to allow amazing things to happen.

When not working, I enjoy skiing, golfing and exercising. My current obsession is with race car driving, I race a Spec Miata, locally and nationally. My wife Hillary and I have been married since 1988, and have two daughters. Lindsey and Melanie are going to college at the University of Michigan.

Nicole M. Jane

I enjoy treating patients with care, compassion and warmth as if they were my own family and take pride in the fact that our office utilizes the best, most current and efficient technology available to orthodontists.

Growing up in Edenville, Michigan (outside of Midland), my childhood days were spent sledding in the woods, ice skating, swimming and boating on Sanford Lake, cheerleading, and in gymnastics.

My dental degree was earned from the University of Michigan in 1998, after which I served as a dental officer in the United States Navy. In the Navy I was based aboard the USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) where I was solely responsible for the dental health and care of over 600 Sailors and Marines; privileged to not only serve my country but also see the world. The “cruises” aboard my ship included the Panama Canal, most of South America, Western Africa, and parts of Europe. Of all the places I have visited Capetown, South Africa and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil were my favorites. Capetown for the culture, hiking Table Mountain, and watching rugby. Rio for the beaches, city, and Cristo Redento (Christ the Redeemer)--a large statue of Jesus at the peak of Corcovado mountain. After concluding my active duty service, I returned to the University of Michigan to receive my Master of Science degree in orthodontics in 2004.

I ventured away from home to South Lake Tahoe, California and had my own orthodontic practice for seven years. My heartstrings and home-sickness brought me back to Michigan to practice with Drs.Ginzler and Shaw whom I had met on the Advisory Board of SureSmile. I am also on the clinical Faculty with SureSmile and teach orthodontists around the country. I am grateful to have found an office offering SureSmile and Cone Beam (CBCT) technology to our patients, as I believe nothing else comes close to providing the best in orthodontic care.
In my free time I enjoy skiing, boating on the lake, and traveling. I also enjoy spending time with friends and my Persian cat, Meesha.

James A. Ginzler, DDS, MS

I have been treating patients in the Livonia area for over 34 years. During this time, I have sharpened my skills to become a progressive, caring orthodontist with a philosophy of treatment that always places the patient’s desires and needs first.

Dr. GinzlerMy education background began in the Oak Park school system. I studied pharmacy at Wayne State University. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit and my Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan. As you can see, I am a hometown man thru and thru. I regularly attend the national orthodontic meetings to keep me abreast of the latest techniques to facilitate optimum care for my patients.

I am proud to say our office is very user friendly. We like to say “technology with care”. A high tech, modern, office with a caring, gentle, treatment philosophy. We have video games for the kids and great contests with cool prizes! All of the staff is friendly, experienced and compassionate about what they do. They love to share in the excitement when patients see their beautiful new smile!

For me there are few things as gratifying as watching a patient gain self-confidence and self-esteem during their treatment, and the pride they feel at the conclusion of treatment. I feel very fortunate to be able to make such a positive impact on their lives.

Outside the office, I enjoy golfing, traveling, antiques and sharing time with my wife Susan, who is a registered nurse. We take pride in our greatest accomplishment -our two children, Brad, a practicing endodontist in Florida and Lisa, a general dentist practicing in Manhattan, New York. We also share our home with two Shih Tzu boys Junior and Toddy.
